Structured Data for Bios (Beta, in development)

The templates for generating structured data for bio webpages with schema.org microdata or RDFa

Using the Bio Markup templates to create microdata or RDFa data

This template is based on Schema.org's schemas and is designed to highlight the information about a specific person based on a biographic sketch. A biography is a creative and non-fictional written record of a particular human life. This person can be a high-profile individual, any people of your interest, or yourself. The tagging captures data points related directly to the person. Potential tags include name, related URL, nationality, birth date, important roles related with creative and artistic works, and relationships with other persons and organizations. The purpose is to creative machine-understandable and processable structured data for search engines to use for Linked Open Data and in knowledge graphs.

The Bio Markup templates are inspired by the examples set by Schema Creator, with new designs tailored for biographical sketch use, extended to RDFa templates and a direct embedding markup tool.

The first testing sample contains bio sketches of Taiwanese artists, presented by Starting Out from 23.5°N: Chen Cheng-po, a website based on the research results and created by the Academia Sinica Digital Center (ASDC) for the well-known Taiwanese artist Chen Cheng-po (also known as Tan Ting-pho). The original bios are available from the Friend chapter of this website (to view the original, click on each person's name on the network).
