1. For each metadata standard you select to explore further, prepare one (or more) of the following documents. To obtain the full benefit of this exercise in study and application, it is not worthwhile to repeat what is already available on (or provided by) the standard's Web site.
- * An outline of the schema's terms. An example is a table of DCMES' elements, qualifiers/refinements, and encoding schemes for value spaces in this document: http://dublincore.org/documents/usageguide/qualifiers.shtml
- A translated outline in a language with which you are fluent. You must be able to translate it on your own. The name (token) of an element should not be translated, but the label of an element should be translated.*Examples can be found at: http://dublincore.org/resources/translations/

2. Prepare a fact sheet (1-2 pages) about a selected standard. Use at least three references that are available on the Internet. Additionally, provide URL addresses to the major and authoritative sources provided for this standard.

3. Create metadata records (2-5) applying a selected metadata standard. You can either create them from any resource, or use the listed items included on the CD-ROM. The resulting records should concentrate on content rather than the encoding syntax.

4. Write a short essay (1-2 pages) about your observations of this standard based on your relative experience of creating metadata records using this schema. Compare with other schema(s) experience, where applicable.
